The India centre fails if the parent wants it to

Half of Zinnov's work happens on the other side of the ocean: change management with US counterparts who have never worked with a team that far away, in a different culture and a different communication style. The failure mode is treating your own centre like an outsourcing vendor: withholding customer knowledge and domain context, and never granting empowerment. When he set up the Bangalore centre himself, Nilesh says, the harder job was making the US side understand what it takes to make India work.

Aim low on productivity and you will get low

The persistent assumption is that people hired remotely, or in India, are less productive, so leaders quietly plan for less. Nilesh's counter is that you should expect equal or better output from a global centre, and that the centre often beats headquarters because product, support, operations, finance and HR are sitting in one building instead of scattered across time zones. That co-location, not effort, is the mechanism.

The next pool is small-town, and LLMs make it viable

Zinnov runs a centre in Nemili, a small town near Chennai, with more than 300 highly motivated people doing data processing and research for global clients, in a place Nilesh had never heard of before he visited. His claim is that remote and hybrid norms plus LLMs, which absorb the commodity and boilerplate layer, make distance cheap while raising the premium on people who can build on top of the models.
